Audition for the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra!
The St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce auditions for principal bass and all section strings. Auditions are also open to those interested in being on the woodwinds, brass, or percussion sub list.
SCSO’s 2018-19 season featured masterworks by works by Ravel, Copland, Joan Tower, Beethoven, Sibelius, and more. Our 2019-20 season, “Pathways,” will feature compositions by Weber, Hindemith, José Pablo Moncayo, Liszt, Dvořák, Libby Larsen, Lee Actor, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Michael Daugherty, Duke Ellington, Brahms, Bernstein, and Florence Price. Join us as we bring musical enrichment to audiences of all ages in Central Minnesota, through masterworks concerts, outdoor pops, Classics for Kids programs, senior outreach concerts, holiday programs, and chamber music performances.
Auditions will be held on the University of Minnesota campus, Ferguson Hall, on:
Monday May 6th, from 7:30-9:30 pm
Monday May 13th, from 7:30-9:30 pm
Auditions will also be held on the St.Cloud State University Campus on:
Monday, May 20th, from 3:00-5:00pm

The St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra season begins in September and concludes with the Lemonade Concert in late June. The orchestra performs a Preview Concert, four Subscription Concerts, two Classics for Kids Concerts, and a Pops concert. Additional performances may be added during a season. Rehearsals mostly take place on Monday evenings, with an occasional rehearsal on an alternate evening during the week. (Tuesday or Thursday) Subscription concert performances(4-6 per season) are on Saturday evenings. All rehearsals and performances are held on the St. Cloud State University Campus.
The St. Cloud Symphony is a paid orchestra, offering modest pay rates to musicians. Current pay rates are $20 per service for principal musicians, and $12 per service for section musicians. A small mileage stipend is also available per service to those musicians driving more than 30 miles one way.
